We find film fascinating. We like discussing production, editing, story, storyboarding, acting, directing, cinematography, film scores, trivia, history, fan service, fan theories, subtexts, big ideas; if it is part of film we like to discuss it. For us film is no different than literature can be discussed just as deeply, or shallowly. We have been discussing movies for years and want to invite you, the listener to join us. I'm Max. And I'm Jason. Welcome to the conversation.

Black Widow
Thursday Sep 23, 2021
Thursday Sep 23, 2021
On this week's episode we brought back guest host Anya, because we were worried that we just couldn't be objective about Marvel Studios' Black Widow. In the end what we got was the shoot out at the end what we got was the shoot-out at the end of Reservoir Dogs. Which is to say, we had a lot of fun disagreements about just about every piece of this film.
We also ran into the problem of getting three committed comic book nerds/movie nerds talking about a comic book movie. WE TALK A LOT. At the end of the day, I don't think you want a seven hour podcast, so I'm releasing our Black Widow review and discussion in (at least) two parts. Enjoy, and do let us know what you thought of Black Widow.

Audience, this isn't the much anticipated Black Widow episode. Please keep anticipating. That will be out next week. In the mean time, enjoy this rebroadcast of an M&JWAM oldie. Its an MCU film, and one of our favorites. Captain America: The First Avenger.
If you missed it, and can't be bothered to scroll through our episode list, well, here it is! Convenient eh?
Enjoy and we will see you with a new episode next Thursday.

Max & Jason watch Masters of the Universe Revelation Ep 1 & 2
Tuesday Aug 24, 2021
Tuesday Aug 24, 2021
We continue our examination of Masters of the Universe: Revelation. In this episode we discuss MOUR's episode 1 and 2, "The Power of Grayskull," and "The Poisoned Chalice."
If you are a sci-fi nerd, you have probably heard that the show is somehow controversial. We begin to examine some of those complaints and compare them to the show itself. Is the show somehow too woke? Not woke enough? Is it really, really real Masters of the Universe storytelling? Give our show a listen to see what we think. I think you will find that "WE HAVE THE POWEEEEER!!!!!!" And you might too if you give us a listen.

Max and Jason Watch a Movie: Masters of the Universe Revelation
Tuesday Aug 17, 2021
Tuesday Aug 17, 2021
On this week's episode of M&JWAM, we actually watch a Netflix show, Masters of the Universe: Revelation. Directed and written by Kevin Smith, this show takes us back to Eternia, and unlike the Dolph Lundgren Masters film, we actually get to stay there.
This episode marks part one of our review and discussion of this series. We discuss why this show got made, and our overall reaction to it. Is the show good? Is it a good interpretation of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe? Should you watch it? We answer those questions in this episode and maybe a few more. In our next few podcasts we will review the episodes themselves. As always let us know what you think by contacting us at at Lordmovies39 on gmail. Enjoy the show.

Max and Jason: A guest disagrees with us about Gunpowder Milkshake
Tuesday Aug 10, 2021
Tuesday Aug 10, 2021
Audience! Jason had debilitating technical issues and we were unable to begin, or rather, finish beginning our conversation about Kevin Smith's Masters of the Universe: Revelations. This required some fast thinking on the part of the more serious, thoughtful host Max to get an episode out on Tuesday. And so, this week we have a guest who disagrees with us about Gunpowder Milkshake.
Enjoy the show!
Maybe you agree with the guest host, maybe you don't, but you can find the Amazing Anya at the following place:

Max and Jason Watch a Movie: Gunpowder Milkshake
Tuesday Aug 03, 2021
Tuesday Aug 03, 2021
This week we tackle Netflix's action comedy Gunpowder Milkshake, starring Karen Gillan, Lena Headey, Angela Bassett, Michelle Yeoh, Carla Gugino, Chloe Coleman, Micheal Smiley and Paul Giamatti. It will be hard not to notice that this film is packed with serious talent, and all of which are great in the shoot-em-up genre.
Gunpowder Milkshake is a blood soaked neon-noir, fable-fantasy-cartoon version of a gun-fu noir. Is it successful? Have a listen and find out what we think about this film.

Max and Jason Watch a Movie: Masters of the Universe (re-release)
Tuesday Jul 27, 2021
Tuesday Jul 27, 2021
Hey listeners, Jason and I are taking the week off as we adjust our scheduling to account for a less pandemic restricted world. That means no Gunpowder Milkshake this week. Look for that episode next week. And perhaps beginning next week, or the following week we will be reviewing Kevin Smith's brand spanking new #HeMan content, Masters of the Universe: Revelations. So be on the look out for that. Until then, enjoy this episode where we ask a lot of questions about Dolph Lundgren's trek through Eternia.
